From a Women’s Conference in Cite du Soleil, which is one of the poorest cities in Haiti, was born the SWM Sewing School. During the three -day Christian Women in Business Seminar held at the Good Samaritan Church, the Godly idea of self-reliance was borne. 20 out of 200 women in attendance were interested in joining the sewing school where they would learn a skill to benefit themselves, their family, and ultimately their community.
Four hours per day, the women are there learning their new craft, learning how to sew clothes for themselves and their families. The goal, is to be able to support themselves through their new skill. “May the favor[a] of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands.” (Psalm 91:17)
