Pakistan Brick Kiln Release 2022 — The Areef Family
SWM is committed to raising funds for the release of another family from the clutches of slavery. When the family is persuaded to take a loan and cannot repay it, the person, in this case, the parents, siblings, and their children are then forced into labor at the brick kiln wherein they work every day, all day long, and are charged for the meager living space and food that is purchased from the brick kiln. A vicious cycle from which they are never delivered. We are able to report the success of life after slavery for Brother Manu and his family, who are working for the Church, have a home and are receiving an education that is critical. Remember, while the children are in the brick kiln they are not educated; when they leave they have to be taught life skills outside of the brick kiln. Many are born in the brick kiln, and never leave and they beget children in the brick kiln. This place produces generations of labor where the debt is never paid off. In the case of the Areef family, Brother Areef has a wife and children, and two married sisters who, as the head of the household (both parents deceased), he was responsible for the dowery for his two sisters - hence the increase in the debt. They took one of his kidneys as payment, but it did not drive down the debt. They took his kidney!! Our goal is to get Brother Areef, his wife and son, his two sisters, and their children out of the brick kiln by Christmas of 2022. We cannot do it without you! We thank you for your generous donations in the release of both the Noel and Manu families. What a wonderful expression of love and a perfect example for the Christmas season.
